Chris and Thomas: Vista Street Sessions

With beautiful folk acoustic stylings and Bob Dylan/Nick Drake remnants, Chris and Thomas feature finger-picked acoustics that speak volumes. Some lyrics are introspective and some are more of daydreaming rambles, but the sounds of this album are professional and make a great collection for anyone who likes simple folk without country ties.

During my walk along Hollywood Boulevard, last summer, I caught sight of the small, but yet famous Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles. Every day in this establishment you can see lesser known singer-songwriters, who sometimes grow into real big names in the business. Without knowing what I could expect, I instinctively stepped forward, also because I saw a poster of Tim Easton hanging there. How about that, I thought, this must be a sign for a pleasant evening. On stage, two men were sitting next to each other with a banjo and a mandolin, singing and playing in one single microphone. Chris and Thomas met each other for the first time when they studied at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. A nice accidental fact to me was that Sir Paul McCartney himself sponsors this institute.
Conclusion within twenty minutes: Chris and Thomas know how to present an acoustic set in an attractive and multi facetted way. They are humoristic entertainers with very tasteful songs. You can visualize their performance just by listening to their EP 'Vista Street Sessions'. Close your eyes and get carried away by musical movie-tracks from your own mind, in which you see Simon & Garfunkel strolling in Central Park and Nick Drake wandering along the river Thames in London - and yes, that is what I experienced. The unique harmony vocals and the many changes of instruments made chris and thomas’ show a small intimate spectacle. This EP is worth every penny. Tracks like 'Time to Find Out' or 'Land of Sea’ will give you goose-bumps.
