Chris and Thomas: Vista Street SessionsWith beautiful folk acoustic stylings and Bob Dylan/Nick Drake remnants, Chris and Thomas feature finger-picked acoustics that speak volumes. Some lyrics are introspective and some are more of daydreaming rambles, but the sounds of this album are professional and make a great collection for anyone who likes simple folk without country ties. |
During my walk along Hollywood Boulevard, last summer, I caught sight of the small, but yet famous Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles. Every day in this establishment you can see lesser known singer-songwriters, who sometimes grow into real big names in the business. Without knowing what I could expect, I instinctively stepped forward, also because I saw a poster of Tim Easton hanging there. How about that, I thought, this must be a sign for a pleasant evening. On stage, two men were sitting next to each other with a banjo and a mandolin, singing and playing in one single microphone. Chris and Thomas met each other for the first time when they studied at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. A nice accidental fact to me was that Sir Paul McCartney himself sponsors this institute. |
